My wife and I recently had 5 new Velux solar powered skylights w/shades installed for our home. Lead installer, Levi, and his co-worker, Jose, did a superb job of removing the existing skylights (from 1992) and installing the new ones. The guys were really professional, on time, very helpful in answering our questions and thorough in cleanup. They programmed our remotes so we can activate opening/closing the skylights and the shades. We highly recommend Seattle Skylights for anyone considering replacing old units or thinking about adding skylights for the first time.

We hired Seattle Skylights / Roof Boss / Metropolitan Construction because they were listed as Velux Certified Skylight Specialists. For structural skylight cut-ins, we expected specialists who understood permits, engineering, and code compliance. This was our worst contractor experience. A job represented as 10 to 12 working days dragged from August 2025 to April 2026. It only reached completion after months of us catching problems, demanding permits and engineering documentation, stopping premature drywall scheduling, disputing improper charges, and chasing close-out documents. They performed structural work before we were provided permits or engineer-stamped documentation. Their contract said the work would be done to code. Cutting manufactured trusses for skylights requires engineering, permits, and inspection. When we raised the lack of permits over the phone, we were told we had not specifically asked for permits, and that the salesperson should not have included “to code” language in the contract. That was shocking from a company selling itself as a skylight specialist. After the original install, we inspected the attic ourselves and found cut truss members that appeared to be hanging or not properly attached, no visible hangers, large gaps, odd scrap-like framing, and no clear reinforcement. We had to demand permit paperwork, an inspection path, and engineer documentation that should have existed before work began. The insulation was wrong initially. The contract referenced R-40 insulation, but they first installed rough R-13 insulation that looked temporary and poorly fitted. We only got that corrected after pushing back.Even after engineer-stamped details were produced, their crew came back and still did not follow them. We found wrong hardware, missing vertical members, inconsistent fastening, hardware attached on only one face in some locations, and fasteners that did not match the engineered requirements. We warned months earlier that the screws were wrong and would not pass inspection. They denied there was a problem, then later had to send an installer back after inspection required correction. They tried to schedule drywall before structural and permit issues were resolved. We had to stop that from happening. They framed the permit delay as “King County takes time,” but the inspector told us this timeline was not normal and only took this long because the contractor had not followed code and had to get the permit after the fact.Communication was terrible. Once issues started, the owner became verbally aggressive with my spouse on the phone, so we required communication in writing. Even then, they often did not respond until we escalated. Later he told us that if we had timeline concerns, we should “contact the county and threaten them.”The office and field crews seemed disconnected. Installers did not understand the insulation requirements, structural work did not match the engineer’s details, and later the drywall crew showed up without understanding the full scope.Jobsite management was awful. After one installer was injured, they left Ram Board with blood on it inside our home and did not notify us. We asked them to clean it up and they refused, so we removed it ourselves because we have pets. Later, their crew was visibly annoyed. They also tried to rely on thin painter’s tarp where we had asked for proper floor protection. They left a Honey Bucket in our yard for months and appeared to forget about it until we reminded them near final payment. Their final invoice included charges for things they did not do, including interior scaffolding even though no scaffolding was used.Even after closing out the balance, they never responded to requests for the lien waiver/release discussed at the beginning and referenced in the contract.Completion does not redeem the experience. I would never hire this company again or recommend them for skylight cut-ins. A certified skylight specialist should not require months of homeowner pressure to complete a code-compliant job.

If you’re looking to have skylights installed professionally, Seattle Skylights is the team to work with.I had contacted two other contractors before them, but their professionalism truly stood out. Jasmine, their salesperson, showed me brochures with pictures and dimensions of different skylight options that could work in my kitchen. She was even able to provide real-time ballpark quotes, which helped me keep track of the costs in my head and notes. The other companies I reached out to weren’t able to offer any of that.Jasmine was really easy to work with, and I ended up having two skylights installed—one in my kitchen and the other in my living room.Levi, the skylight installer, was absolutely great. The entire job took about a week, and he addressed any concerns I had with care. He was precise with his work, protected the rooms with plastic wrap, and always kept the space clean and tidy at the end of each day.For any questions I had, Gwen—Seattle Skylights’ main point of contact—was also fantastic to work with. She kept me informed about scheduling, costs, and everything else throughout the process. In the end, my skylights turned out amazing! Both the kitchen and living room have been completely transformed. It feels incredible to have so much natural sunlight pouring in—I don’t even turn on the lights until evening, which saves a lot on energy.I have absolutely zero regrets about working with Seattle Skylights. These skylights have truly changed my home for the better.

We had a leak in our Skylight and i got in touch with Seattle Skylights/Roof Boss. Got a call from Jassmine and she got me a quote and we got the job done in quick order. I also worked with Gwen and she was fantastic. Manuel came out and was very professional and got the job done fast and well done. He installed a new Velux skylight. If i have anymore problems that they can help on they’re on the top of our call list. Plus their pricing was better than the other four quotes we recieved. Thanks for the good work Roof Boss! :)

Wow!!! From start to finish Metropolitan did a fantastic job in installing my 6 large skylights, and presidential roof.I was in quite a distress because my previous contractor bailed and Metropolitan was there to the rescue. They were professional, thorough, and a master of their craft! My wife and I were so impressed with their high quality work, all at a very fair price. They were also very communicative throughout the process. This company is by far one of the best vendors I have ever worked with! I will use them for all my future roofing/skylight needs and I'm happy to recommend them to my friends/neighbors!Thank you Metro Roofing for your excellent workmanship and getting me through a tough situation!

Needing to purchase skylights I knew I wanted the VLUX brand, so naturally I searched for companies who deal with VLUX in the Seattle area. Seattle Skylights came up and I had the pleasure of working with Gwen Hopper on my order. This has been one of the ore pleasant, hassle-free, pressure-free experiences! She was super communicative and patient with my timelines (which were a bit hectic). Please have the confidence in working with this group - you'll get amazing service and competitive pricing. Thank you Gwen!

I had four skylights installed by Seattle Skylights, and I could not be happier with the process and the end product. Gwen and her team were flexible and informative, and the installer, Manuel, was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Will 10/10 use them again on future projects.

Overall a great experience and the skylight looks great! Especially loved that they tarped around the skylight opening when installing it so the dust/debris wouldn’t get all over the house

I hired Seattle Skylights for what at first was just to replace a leaking skylight. When work commenced, it was apparent that much more extensive work would have to be done, to replace the water damaged section of the roof. Gwen was very sympathetic to my needs and thankfully they were able to fit me in right away. Manuel and his team worked efficiently and thoroughly. Great company that I highly recommend!!

Just finished a home exterior upgrade of siding, insulation, windows, gutters, and, lastly, 3 skylights. By far the most knowledgeable and effective contractor process we delt with was Seattle Skylights through Gwen. We solicited multiple skylight replacement bids and Seattle Skylights came in as the most complete and detailed with pricing itemization down to the trimming of wallboard to install the Vulux blinds (if needed) and instructions/support documentation to apply for the solar federal income tax credit (which essentially pays for the solar powered blinds). Very nice! Plus, they were hundreds of $$ less than the next bid. Even with rain shower installation scheduling challenges, Gwen made it happen the week after we placed our order. The crew was on time, very courteous, respectful on our brand-new gutters with their ladders, and very efficient with minimal intrusion into our personal space. We are very pleased with Seattle Skylight’s sales to installation processes and our new Vulux skylights with solar powered blinds.

I contacted Seattle Skylights to replace a leaking skylight that was well over 20 years old. My first concern was if finding a replacement that matched for such an old skylight would prove difficult. The representative was very professional to work with in determining the measurements and correct model. Even though my roof shingle color was no longer available, Seattle Skylights did the necessary research to find an excellent match. On the day of installation, the process went faster and smoother than anticipated. My only regret is that I did not contact them sooner because I thought the job would be too expensive. Overall a very good experience.

I had Seattle Skylights come for an install for my house. They put VELUX skylights in. The crew was rained out the first day, but they came back a couple of days later. They were polite and efficient and I have three skylights in my house now. The kitchen and bathroom are much brighter! For anyone considering a sun tunnel, these things are great.

Seattle Skylights installed a custom-sized Velux skylight, replacing a previously DYI installation. The sales staff was extremely knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful. Our installation was a bit delayed due to the custom size, but the sales staff helped me in understanding the difference in pricing, the new timeline, and what to expect with the custom unit. The crew was prompt and tidy. We haven't had any issues with the new product, and believed the pricing very fair. Highly recommend!

Seattle skylights installed a Velux Window. During the installation they discovered an installation problem and we agreed to switch out the windows to a different size. They were very fair about it and were able even with the different windows to stay ion schedule. The installation lead was a very skilled carpenter, the installation was done with all the spec requirements. The city inspector agreed "good job"

We called Seattle Skylights when our 26-year old Velux skylight started leaking. We gave them our model # over the phone and they were able to find the correct new model that would fit our current skylight opening and provide us an estimate via email. When the installer came out, he covered the area under the skylight with a protective sheet -- practically unnecessary because I don't believe any debris at all came into the house. He fitted the new model perfectly into our existing opening and cleaned up the exterior job site (roof and ground). We had installed a HunterDouglas blind directly under our old skylight and I was particularly pleased that the installer was careful to leave it in place, untouched, during installation of the new skylight. A very good experience.

Great customer service; awesome installer -- clean, careful, and left my skylight blinds untouched so I can use them with my new skylight. Also: no more leaks!!!!!
