I had 5 Velux skylights replaced in August 2024 by H.R. Skylights & Sun Tunnels. In less than a year after installation 2 of the skylights significantly leaked ruining the drywall and paint I had redone in and around the skylights and leaving water stains on my wood floor. I have had 4 roofers and a skilled Velux rep inspect the damage from the leaking area since I was told by the H.R. Skylights manager (owner?), Kevin, whom I hired to replace my skylights that my roof was to blame. The shingles on my 17 year-old roof with 30 year architectural high end shingles were replaced around the skylights by the installers. Kevin insisted it was my roof since I had nail pops and he applied some sort of sealant to the area. My roof has not leaked anywhere besides this area and I have been told by all the roofers my roof does not have storm damage. When Kevin first came to my house to quote the skylight replacement there was only leaking from inside the skylight area, not around it as there has been since the installation. The other roofing professionals disagreed with Kevin and said the shingles should have been replaced to the top of the roof not patched in the way they were and they said the sealant was not the solution. All roofers agreed H.R. Skylights should repair the problem and fix the damage, Kevin disagrees and said I should contact Velux - which I did - to have their rep inspect the installation and damage - which I did -and he agreed with the roofers. I am beyond frustrated with H.R. Skylights willingness to pass the responsibility for the damage and blame my roof and apply a sealant that all the other professionals did not recommend. I will be contacting Velux headquarters to discuss my situation since he was one of the companies they recommended. I always do my due diligence and research before hiring a contractor as my father owned a construction company and he shared horror stories with me about shoddy workmanship. Unfortunately, that did not prevent the damage I am expected to resolve. Why 2 stars instead of 1? I initially trusted Kevin, until there was an installation issue. BEWARE!Update on November 13, 2025:In response to HR Skylights, which I just viewed, it was HR Skylights who did not respond further to my situation after several phone calls updating them after I had 4 reputable roofers inspect my roof which had no leaks or issues prior to the installation of the new skylights. What's disappointing is that I have extensive damage to my drywall from the skylights which HR Skylights installed and their answer is to spend $25,000+ on a new roof replacing 30+ year old premium shingles that the other roofers stated could have been avoided with installation of shingles to the top of the roof rather than patched in like they were. Also, if my roof was in such bad shape as HR Skylights now claims why wasn't this mentioned before they installed 5 new skylights? I believe HR Skylights should resolve this issue rather than look for blame elsewhere. I can be contacted to discuss this further. You have my phone number.Update February 4, 2026Well apparently the sealant that was applied by Kevin at HR Skylights did NOT resolve the leaking in and around the skylights. The paper roll that was applied under the skylights, as recommended by the Velux professional, to determine if leakage was continuing is wet from skylight leakage. I will contact Velux with this update and when the weather warms up I will expect Kevin's company to repair both the exterior issue and the interior damage. This is a huge disappointment!

Our skylight leaked during heavy rain recently. Kevin from HR came and fixed right away. We could not be more pleased with the work and the experience with Kevin. We will definitely recommend HR for roofing and skylights jobs.

A++++++ I cannot say enough about my experience with Kevin at H.R. Skylights! Absolute professional, great communication and most of all great product and install. We just love our new solar shade Velux skylights. 100% recommend this company.

I have 4 skylights w/blinds, solar-operated in very high cathedral ceilings. My controller stopped working after 6 years and needed a new box with new programming. Kevin had to climb up to each of the skylights to connect to the new box programming. One of the skylights is over a stairwell and on the edge of the impossible to reach. Kevin, with great difficulty, was able to make it up there and do the programming. An amazing job! Very pleased and would highly recommend!
